On Course Playing Instruction
St. Helens Bay Golf Course, Co. Wexford
I believe for every golfer, of every standard, it is vital to spend time learning the game where it is played… on the course. From playing instruction comes great learning, it is not only what the pupil learns that is greatly beneficial, but it is also what the coach learns about the pupil, that may never have been learnt on a driving range, that can often lead to Great Learning.
I teach the complete game, made up of four sections.
- The long game
- The short game
- The course management game
- The mental game
It is only on the course that you can truly receive a complete lesson. You will learn from situations that can only be thought and learnt on the golf course. Over fifty percent of the game is played within 100 yards of the pin, highlighting the importance of the short game, including Putting, Chipping, Pitching, Bunker and the Finesse Wedge Scoring Zone.
You will also learn course management, mental skills and concentration techniques. Lets face it, not even the best players in the world play great golf everyday, but with the combination of a great short game, a smart course management game, and a strong mental game, they can still get the job done.
